Why You Should Be A Failure Rockstar

Living a drunken life, not that kind of drunk, but drunk with life and love.

2023 beat and bruised me up. It was a year of HARD.

My teenage nephew came to live with my family a few years ago.

Because my nephew was raised by a struggling drug addict, he didn’t have the best parental support.

So I thought it was my job to make him go to school, complete his homework, brush his teeth and put on deodorant.

I thought love was taking away his responsibilities and placing them on myself.

Then I found myself completely exhausted.

What is Love and Generosity?

I thought I was being loving, kind, and generous.

  • I paid for private school because my nephew was serval years behind in school.

  • I spent 1.5 hours driving my nephew to and from private school.

  • I texted his teacher every day about his homework.

  • I checked his homework daily.

  • I went downstairs and woke up my nephew for school because he would sleep through his alarm or not set his alarm.

Despite all of my love, my nephew took long naps in school.

He refused to work on his homework.

He kept falling more and more behind.

By the end of 2023, I knew that something had to change. I was doing everything in my power to help my nephew. Even with great effort, it still wasn’t enough, and I found myself emotionally and physically spent.

My Biggest Failure

I thought it was my job to make my nephew be “successful.”

He only came to resent me for trying to control him.

I learned that I couldn’t make him do anything.

I learned that LOVE is not controlling.

Real LOVE is allowing people to take on their own responsibilities so that they can grow and mature.

My biggest failure was thinking that love was taking on loved ones’ responsibilities. I was trying to be the hero. But I don’t want 40-year-old children living in my basement because they’re totally reliant on me!

Why Failure Is So Important

Here is why you want to be an expert in failure:

  1. Failure allows you to pivot.

  2. Failure allows innovation.

  3. Failure is one of life’s greatest teachers.

  4. Failure allows you to move forward with success.

  5. Failure allows you to see dead ends.

  6. Failure humbles and opens you for change.

Conclusion

I hope you know that failure is leading you to great changes.

I hope you learn to welcome failure. Become a rockstar at failure.

Great things await you after failure.

P.S. BTW, what was your biggest failure last year and what can you learn from it? How will you be better for it?

How will failure propel you in 2024 for more joy and happiness in your life?

Sending you so much love, Lynne
